Thank you for your interest regarding graduate study in Sociology at the University of California, Riverside. This page provides information on the procedures involved in applying to the UCR Sociology Department Graduate Program.

It is important to consider your interests in the field and the extent to which they are complemented by the interests of our faculty members. The Sociology Department Graduate Program provides Doctoral level research oriented training and encourages a strong mentoring relationship between the student and a faculty member. Thus, it is important that the research being done at UCR fits well with your interests. If you feel that your interests are reflected in the Department's curriculum, we encourage you to complete the Preliminary Information. The Preliminary Information goes only to the Sociology Department and we are sure the faculty would be pleased to evaluate your interests and qualifications before we receive the official graduate school application (which usually takes longer to complete).
