Biography: Min Yoo earned her B.A. in Sociology at Occidental College with Distinctions in 2014. She minored in Education, Eastern Asian Studies, and Urban Environmental Policy.
She entered UCR’s Sociology Graduate Program in 2015, and her areas of specialization are Race/Ethnicity and Criminology. Her main research employs a qualitative method in order to examine how young adult Asian Americans in Southern California participate in raves. Her research aims to investigate the motivations to attend raves and the relation of cultural and family issues to rave attendance. In addition, she works on quantitative research, where she focuses on labor market outcomes for Asian Americans by disaggregating national data. In the future, she plans on addressing issues such as mental health and labor market outcomes for the various subgroups that fall under the Asian label.
