  • Stephanie D’Auria accepted a tenure track position in the Department of Sociology at Vanguard University.  Congrats!
  • Professor Robert Hanneman delivered a three-session Webinar on social network analysis for Academy Health (a national professional association of health care researchers), and a three-day workshop on network analysis to the department of statistics at the University of Nebraska.
  • Professor Katja Guenther was elected chair of the Discrimination Committee of Sociologists for Women in Society (SWS).
  • Dr. Kristy Shih accepted a tenure-trade assistant professor position at Central Michigan University.  Congrats!
  • Professor Karen Pyke was appointed to the Editor Selection Committee for Gender & Society.
  • Professor Jan Stets received the Lifetime Achievement Award, American Sociological Association Emotions Section for research on the sociology of emotions.
  • Professor David Swanson received funding for the development of a Virtual Co-laboratory for Policy Analysis in Greater Los Angeles” from the UC Multicampus Research Program and Initiatives, University of California. (Co-Investigator with Richard Arnott et al.).
  • Professor David Swanson was interviewed about his research by The Telegraph, Calcutta, India, by The-Press Enterprise, the Scientific American, the Arizona Republic, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, The Desert Sun and UCR: The Magazine of UC Riverside.
  • Professor David Swanson was elected Facilitator, Census Scientific Advisory Committee, U.S. Census Bureau.
  • Professor David Swanson was elected Member, Development Committee, Population Association of America.
  • Professor Jonathon Turner was named University Professor by the Regents of the University of California System.  Professor Turner is the 37th faculty member to be so honored by the UC system, and becomes only the second sociologist to be so named (the other was Neil Smelser of UC Berkeley).
