BIOGRAPHY
Robert Hanneman was trained in the macro-comparative analysis of social class and income inequality, and continues to do some related work in world-systems in collaboration with others at the Institute for Research on World Systems. Hanneman also does research on economic and organizational dynamics, medical, military, and educational institutions, and social network analysis methods.

In recent years, his primary interest has been in methods for doing "Analytical Sociology." This is a new name for a variety of approaches to formalizing and exploring theory. In this area, Hanneman has worked in non-linear dynamic systems, logical-deductive, statistical, and agent-based modeling. He recently served as the Chair of the Mathematical Sociology section of the American Sociological Association.
