Biography:
April Cubbage-Vega is currently researching how primary female relationships affect adolescent girls’ body image. Of particular interest is the intergenerational transfer of femininity and how mothers transmit and reinforce oppressive body ideals. April’s future research endeavors include a comparative analysis of African American, Latina and Caucasian mothers and daughters and how ideals about femininity are reproduced and the impact of the current anti-obesity campaign on overweight girls.
