Erika Gutierrez is currently working on two projects. The first is concerning her theory of Possessive Spatial Acquisition, which is the actual physical action of becoming totally encapsulated by an organization in terms of space and identity. The second project Erika is pursuing concerns an examination of the redevelopment of downtown San Diego. Since racial representation can be symbolized through the preservation of certain buildings, at issue is whether, by preserving one cultural over another, redevelopment efforts in San Diego are really about racial preferences.
