Lexi graduated from California State University, Channel Islands with a B.A. in sociology and a minor in psychology in May 2015. She entered the Ph.D. program at UCR beginning in Fall 2016. Lexi specializes in criminology and socio-legal studies, although her research interests lie within gender studies as well. She hopes to explore topics that lie at the intersection of criminology and gender/sexuality studies, such as how socially constructed definitions of masculinity and femininity can help us to better understand crime. Her current research interests are quite broad. For instance, although she is passionate about criminology, she has co-authored a paper that explored the friendships of gay, lesbian, heterosexual, and bisexual men and women. While preparing for graduate school, she was employed as a behavioral health counselor at a mental health rehabilitation center for individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizoaffective, bipolar, and substance addiction disorders.
