Biography:
Kevin’s has several research interests. He considers the possibility that forces of authority, the “state,” might play a role in a theory of deviance as a cause. For example, in the case of legal execution does the state foster cultures of retribution that increase the rate of violent crimes by simply the act of execution alone? At the intersection of deviance and ethnicity, class, and gender, Kevin also sees a relationship between authority sanctioned discrimination based on a given class and increases in discrimination and violence against that class. As a former employee of ESRI, he also has a keen interest in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in sociological research.
