Biography:
His research interest is in how the boundaries of American citizenship are constituted by racial projects such as the formation of collective memory and the construction of moral panics over racialized "others." He is also interested in social theory, social psychology, sociology of knowledge, social movements, sociology of citizenship, and the sociology of culture. Shoon is currently working on a research project with Dr. Scott Coltrane, Dr. Sharon Duffy, Eric Vega and Linda McAnnally studying the effects of parent involvement on the school achievement of Latino(a) youths. He is currently the Webmaster for the Society for the Study of Symbolic Interaction, California Sociological Association and the World-Systems Archive.
