Katherine received her BA in Chicana/o Studies from UCLA. She entered UCR in the Fall of 2016. Her areas of specialization are gender studies, race/class inequality, and criminology. Her research examines the hyper-criminalization of gang-affiliated teen mothers, while centering their identities as forms of resistance. Her research unpacks the ways that race, class, and gender inequalities play a role in institutional and systemic racism towards women and children of color.
