Biography:

Sue-Ellen's interest is in the areas of gender and social psychology. She has conducted qualitative research studies in order to understand how anorexia nervosa affects the development of adolescent females. Sue-Ellen presented her research study The World of Anorexia Nervosa and Psychological Development at the National Women's Studies Association (NWSA) research conference in June 2007. Her most recent study incorporated the pedagogies of feminist, functionalist and critical theory to examine how gender identity factors into anorexia nervosa. Sue-Ellen investigated: how anorexia nervosa reinforces female subjugation and how a woman's fear of fat correlates with a woman's fear of power. Sue-Ellen’s current interest is on examining what constitutes being a girl versus a woman.
