Alexander Scott

Biography: Alex received his M.A. in Sociology from UC Riverside in 2019 and a B.A. in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Humanities from Soka University of America in 2015. His research interests include political sociology, global political economy, social movements, Latin American studies, and critical ethnic studies. In addition to his research, Alex enjoys teaching and collaborating with undergraduate students on research projects. In 2019 he received the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award in the Department of Sociology at UCR.

Alex has spent time living, studying, and conducting research throughout Latin America, and hosts a podcast for Latin American Perspectives, a theoretical and scholarly journal for discussion and debate on the political economy of capitalism, imperialism, and socialism in the Americas.
