Biography: Paul’s research interests lie broadly at the intersection of political economy and economic sociology. His dissertation research examines the causes and consequences of the financialization of nonfinancial industries in the United States. In this ambitious project, Paul first examines the factors pushing and pulling nonfinancial industries investments into finance. He then investigates the economic consequences for firms that are making relatively greater speculative financial investments in the fictitious economy and relatively fewer productive investments in the real economy.
